The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has confirmed that motorists can now access and present their digital driver’s license through the eGovPH App, with full validity nationwide.
According to LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao, the digital license displayed in the app is officially recognized by traffic enforcers and deputized agents across the Philippines.
Digital Driver’s License Now Accepted Nationwide
The LTO clarified that the digital version of the driver’s license can be used as a valid alternative to the physical card during traffic inspections.
Motorists may present their license via the eGovPH App, provided that all required details are clearly visible.
Required Information in Digital License
The digital license must display:
- Full name of the license holder
- License type and restrictions
- Expiration date
- Other essential identification details
As long as the information is complete and accurate, the digital version will be accepted as official proof of a valid driver’s license.
eGovPH App Joins LTMS as Official Platform
The eGovPH App now joins the Land Transportation Management System (LTMS) portal and app as an official platform for accessing LTO services.
This means drivers now have multiple digital options to view and present their driver’s license conveniently using their smartphones.
Part of Government Digitalization Efforts
The introduction of the digital driver’s license is part of the government’s broader push toward digital transformation and paperless transactions.
Benefits for Motorists
- Faster and more convenient access to license information
- Reduced reliance on physical documents
- Easier verification during traffic stops
- Improved efficiency in LTO services
The eGovPH App serves as a “super app” that allows Filipinos to access various government services and documents in one place.
LTO Reminds Drivers to Keep Information Updated
While digital licenses are now accepted, the LTO reminded motorists to ensure that their information is always updated and accurate.
Assistant Secretary Lacanilao emphasized that discrepancies between the digital license and official LTO records may lead to complications during inspections.
Keep Both Digital and Physical Copies
Despite the convenience of digital licenses, drivers are still advised to carry their physical driver’s license as a backup.
This is especially important in areas with:
- Limited mobile signal
- Low battery situations
- Technical issues with mobile devices
Having both formats ensures that motorists can always present valid identification when required.
