The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has significantly strengthened its road safety and enforcement efforts under the leadership of LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao, resulting in hundreds of driver’s license suspensions and revocations nationwide.

According to data released by the agency's Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID), a total of 434 driver's licenses were revoked, and 396 licenses were suspended between October 2025 and June 10, 2026 due to various violations of traffic laws and driving regulations.

The figures highlight the agency's ongoing commitment to promoting responsible driving and improving road discipline across the country.

LTO Intensifies Enforcement Against Traffic Violators

Since assuming office in October 2025, Assistant Secretary Lacanilao has pushed for stricter enforcement of existing traffic laws as part of the agency's broader road safety initiatives.

The LTO said that disciplinary actions against erring motorists are intended to deter dangerous driving behavior and encourage compliance with road rules.

Focus on Road Safety and Accountability

The agency's intensified campaign targets motorists who commit serious traffic violations that endanger public safety and undermine road discipline.

By holding drivers accountable, the LTO aims to reduce accidents and create safer roads for all road users.

Breakdown of Revoked Driver's Licenses

The IID report showed that 434 licenses were revoked during the period under review.

Revocation Cases

  • 325 licenses revoked for two (2) years
  • 15 licenses revoked for four (4) years
  • 94 licenses permanently revoked

Permanent revocations are generally imposed on motorists found guilty of serious or repeated violations that demonstrate a disregard for traffic laws and public safety.

Breakdown of Suspended Driver's Licenses

In addition to revocations, the LTO also imposed 396 license suspensions.

Suspension Cases

  • 23 licenses suspended for one (1) month
  • 290 licenses suspended for three (3) months
  • 7 licenses suspended for six (6) months
  • 1 license suspended for seven (7) months
  • 75 licenses suspended for one (1) year

The suspensions serve as both a disciplinary measure and a reminder for motorists to comply with traffic regulations.

Part of LTO's 7-Point Priority Agenda

Assistant Secretary Lacanilao said the agency's stricter enforcement efforts form part of the LTO's 7-Point Priority Agenda, which focuses on improving road safety, strengthening discipline among motorists, and enhancing public service.

Supporting National Road Safety Goals

The initiative also aligns with the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to promote safer roads and encourage responsible driving nationwide.

“Part of our duty is to strictly implement existing traffic laws, and this is just one of LTO’s concrete accomplishments. We continue to strengthen road discipline and ensure public safety,” Lacanilao said.

LTO Continues Campaign for Safer Roads

The agency emphasized that enforcement actions will continue as part of its long-term strategy to improve driver behavior and reduce road accidents.

Motorists are reminded that compliance with traffic laws is not only a legal obligation but also a crucial factor in protecting lives and maintaining order on Philippine roads.

As the LTO strengthens its enforcement programs, the agency hopes to foster a culture of responsibility and discipline among drivers, ensuring safer travel for motorists, passengers, pedestrians, and communities nationwide.
